Sometimes it may seem like all teenagers care about are clothes and music, but that may not be so. Many teenagers are deeply interested in the world around them as they get prepared to enter the real world. They are interested in current events for teens.

Teenagers who follow world events know that they will likely not receive Social Security like their grandparents did. Many teens may worry about this fact. Hopefully this reality will inspire them to save their money as soon as they start working and stay out of debt.

Even though most teenagers cannot vote, many are interested in politics. Many schools have clubs for Young Republicans and Young Democrats. Teenagers can help with campaigns by passing out literature, making phone calls, and putting up signs. Teens will want to read about politics, because it effects their future.

College costs and information related to college is important to teenagers as they will soon be choosing and attending a school. Current trends are showing that college tuition is going up at a high rate, and teens need to know more about financial aid and scholarships. Teenagers need to know information about deadlines for applying for aid and where to apply. This information is not always readily available to them.

Career trends should be included in current events for teens. Although most teenagers have some time to think before starting in the work force, most teens are at least contemplating what field they want to work in. They need to have an idea, so they know what courses to take in high school and college. College graduates need to be able to get a job and make decent money after graduation, in order to pay back their student loans.

Teenagers do care about music, movies, and television. This fact is undeniable. They want to stay on top of the hottest trends, see all the new shows and listen to all the hottest new music. Teenagers want to read about these topics, along with fashion, dating, and health information. Teenagers have special needs that are unique to their age group, and current events for teens must address this fact.

Teenagers like to know where to shop to get new fashions and where the “cool kids” are eating. They want to know all about the popular places to go to have fun, shop, and eat. Teens enjoy getting out of the house with their newfound freedom!

There may be some teenagers that only care about their tiny corner of the world, but most teens are much more thoughtful. They want to know about current events relating to politics, jobs, college, and their future. They realize that they do have a future, and they want to know where that future is going.

Good hygiene starts at an early age. If you want to help your child establish good hygiene habits there are four areas you need to focus on, and several things you need to do. Here are a few helpful hints for teaching good hygiene habits to kids:

Hand washing: Washing hands is a huge part of making sure that your kids learn good hygiene habits. Start by showing them how to properly wash their hands. Teach them when they should be washing their hands. Before meals, after using the bathroom, and whenever they come in contact with someone who is sick. These are all important parts of teaching your child hand washing hygiene.

Teeth brushing: good oral hygiene is a critical part of health. When your child is small make teeth brushing a regular part of your morning and nightly routine. When they get up and are getting dressed for the day, make sure that you have them brush their teeth. Then at night, make teeth brushing part of their bedtime routine. The more routine it is, the better their oral health will be. Have them brush before bed, but teach them how. Set a timer so that they do it for the full two minutes which is recommended. In addition, help them learn the little song: Brush, brush, brush, brush, Every tooth, no need to rush, brush a, brush a, brush a, brush! Then spit, that’s it!

Regular bathing: Help your children learn the importance of regular bathing. Regular bathing is critical to good skin health, to washing away germs, and the like. So, when your children are very small, help them learn bathing by giving them regular baths. Show them by example that regular showers and baths is critical to health, and not something to avoid. They will learn by watching you take care of yourself and clean you skin, hair,and so on. You can make it fun for them by providing bath toys or fun colored soaps. There are plenty of ways to make bathing fun and help your kids learn the importance of it.

Basic understanding of germ spreading: In addition to teaching your child how to have good hygiene, through hand washing, teeth brushing and bathing, you need to teach your children why it is important. Teach them about the spreading of germs, and how proper hygiene can put a stop to it. Teach them how to stay healthy, and practice good habits through proper hygiene.

The sooner your children learn good hygiene, the longer they will live healthier happier lives. Good hygiene helps in many areas. You will live healthier, but you will also be able to have better social interactions. As you teach your kids good hygiene, remember to teach them that there is more to hygiene then just showering and teeth brushing, that it will also make them more attractive to others, potential employers, and so on.

Kids are tough on clothes, so you have to be tough on taking care of them. It can be so frustrating having to buy another pair of jeans, another shirt or jacket because it is just worn out, when they are probably going to grow out of it before long. Some of this wear and tear can be prevented by taking a few extra precautions with your children’s clothing. If you will take note of these simple tips on laundry and storage and spend only a couple extra minutes per day, you can keep your kids clothes looking great.

As you are gathering up your kid’s clothes from around the house or out of the clothes hamper, be sure to empty all of the pockets and close all zippers (to keep them from snagging). Make sure you read all of the labels of newer clothes and check the ones you are not sure of, and follow those instructions carefully. Turn each of the colored garments inside out. This prevents a little bit of fading. The normal color separation is then appropriate. Be sure to keep denims and whites separate from colors for the first three or four washes. Make sure all stains are pre-treated and holes or tears are mended before you put them in the washer.

Keep lint-producing garments separate from those that attract lint, especially dark colored clothing items, and wash whites in hot water. Of course you should wash bright colors and darks in cold water. Even though dryers are extremely convenient, drying your kid’s clothes on a clothes line will extend their life considerably. If you do decide to use a dryer, you should take the precaution of not overloading it and being sure to remove the clothes as soon as they are dry. Over drying is especially damaging to clothes.

Probably one of the most important parts of kid’s clothing protection is storing the clothes properly. Many people do not have the right kinds of hangers to store their kid’s clothes, and as a result, most of those clothes are folded, even if they really need to be hung. Purchasing some childrens clothes hangers will vastly improve the way your kid’s clothes are stored. Childrens coat hangers are also designed to keep those jackets and outer layers stored properly. Some parents think it is silly to use childrens clothes hangers, but they will really make a difference in the lifetime of your kid’s clothes. When it comes to folding, storing kid’s garments in plastic containers will actually preserve them better, and it is important to add cedar chips if your house is known to have moth problems.

Just a few simple things and an extra couple of minutes to every wash day can keep your children’s clothes looking new. Kids really are hard on clothes, but you don’t have to stand by and do nothing. Take a little action and save yourself the trouble of replacing your kid’s clothes too soon.
